Easter, the kids and stuff...

Happy Easter everyone!!!!

I hope everyone has a great holiday with their family and friends. So far our holiday has been fun. Yesterday we had our neighborhood Easter egg hunt. That was a success. We had about 10 kids hunting for candy filled eggs in our back yard. It wasn't very elaborate, but the kids seemed to have a good time, and that's all that matters. Here are the pictures of the little hunter :)

I almost forgot...

to praise Austin for doing so well in school. Yesterday Charley and I had a parent teacher conference where we discovered several things....first that Austin is reading way above grade level, hooray! The class should be between a 12 & 14 and he is at a 16. Which is where he should be at the end of his first grade year. Also his writing is slightly above average and his math is pretty much on grade level. The teacher said he is just a bit under where he should be for math, according to the assessment they took the other day. However, the errors that he made were very common amongst his classmates and she thinks that some of the questions that were missed were a little misleading for him and the rest of the class. So I am willing to bet that he is on grade level if not a little bit past it. Because we know that he knows that information. Well congrats to my Aussie, we are so proud of you!

I have managed to get the elusive picture of "Smiling Jack"! Charley and I have been trying to nab this picture for quite some time now, and alas I have got it! I actually have several, woo hoo. Take a look at this cute little fellow.

The other task I have had, was trying to get Austin to cooperate and let me take a picture of him with all his missing tooth glory. I finally got one of those too... and a few others of my handsome boy.

Misc

With as many people that I have talked to and described what Jackson looks like, it seems hard for them to believe that he has red/reddish hair. Here is a picture of his hair (Mylinda, it's close to orangutan orange LOL!) it really is sort of orange in the sunlight. So funny to think that we would have a child with reddish hair and what looks to be light colored eyes. They may end up being blue or green, I doubt they will be brown. Anyway I have been told that he resembles one of Charley's cousin's children. He would fit right in... he has the coloring of one of the kids, her name is Savannah! She is a red head with olive skin and light brown eyes. From the pictures below you can come to your own conclusion.

I am also including some other misc pictures that we took recently. There are never any pictures of me with anyone, because I am the only photographer in the family. I think I will have to use the self-timer (which should be fun with a newborn).

Austin's Baseball try-outs

Well, yesterday was Austin's baseball try-outs (actually they were assessments). Charley and I have an inkling that this could be his sport. Soccer was sort of a wash last year, he would just run around the field like a lemming with all the other kids. Baseball seems to be more interactive. It also helps that Austin is really good at it. Charley and Aussie practice in the back yard a lot, and as you know practice makes perfect.

Austin did really well at the practice, except for one minor thing.... I never realized how dangerous little league can be. Imagine 15-20 little boys throwing baseballs to each other (more like at each other), some of which have never really thrown before. Therefore the children have little or no control of the baseball. Austin is one of those children! My son managed to throw a baseball at his partner and it didn't really make it to him, instead the ball found its way to a neighboring child and his unprotected crotch :( The poor little guy, he cried but dealt with his injury like a champ. Austin of course ran over and checked on him. I, being over cautious made Austin wear his cup. Thank goodness! Here are some pictures of the try-outs. On another note, Austin has lost another tooth! He now has two missing; one on the bottom and one on the top. He also has another loose tooth on the top.
